A Milestone in Modern Logistics

STABILA, a global leader in measuring tool manufacturing, marked its 135th anniversary with the grand opening of a cutting-edge logistics facility at its new site in the Wilgartswiesen-Hauenstein industrial park, Germany. The celebration in late June brought together employees, shareholders, advisory board members, friends of the company, and local community representatives to witness this significant milestone.

A Glimpse into the Future of Logistics

Guests at the event were given the opportunity to tour the impressive 8,000 m² facility, located just 12 kilometers from STABILA’s headquarters in Annweiler, Palatinate. The guided tours highlighted the advanced warehousing and logistics processes that the new facility offers. In his address, CEO Ulrich Dähne reflected on STABILA’s rich 135-year history and emphasized the importance of the new logistics center, stating, “The launch of this new facility is a crucial step for STABILA, reinforcing our commitment to Southwest Palatinate as a thriving business hub.” The investment of approximately €15 million in this new site is a testament to the company’s forward-looking growth strategy.

Meeting the Demands of Growth

STABILA’s remarkable revenue growth over the past decade necessitated the expansion of its logistics capabilities. The company’s revenue has more than doubled, while the available logistics space has remained unchanged, leading to daily operational challenges and reliance on external warehousing. To support continued growth, STABILA needed a significantly larger logistics space. The Annweiler location could not accommodate this need, prompting the decision to build in the Wilgartswiesen-Hauenstein industrial park with support from the district of Southwest Palatinate and local communities. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 28, 2022, following extensive planning and approval processes that began in 2019.

State-of-the-Art Facility Design

The new facility is built on a nearly 22,000 m² plot, with future expansion possibilities. The warehouse and dispatch areas occupy 7,350 m², while office and social spaces cover 250 m² each. The facility features nine gates for efficient goods receipt and dispatch. The warehouse includes a supply store with 3,200 Euro pallet storage spaces, a narrow aisle warehouse with 500 storage spaces, a wide aisle warehouse for long and heavy products with 500 storage spaces, and an automated small parts warehouse with 1,200 storage boxes. The picking and packing areas have been optimized for modern logistics and ergonomic standards, with numerous automated processes enhancing efficiency.

Sustainability at the Core

STABILA prioritized sustainability and climate neutrality in the construction of the new building. The facility boasts an energy efficiency rating of 55 according to the KfW standard and includes a 1,200 m² photovoltaic system with battery storage units and heat pumps. The roof and façade are adorned with green spaces, and the building design incorporates boxes for up to 400 bats, demonstrating a commitment to preserving endangered species.

Looking Ahead

The inauguration of the new logistics facility signifies a bright future for STABILA, as the company continues to innovate and grow. This latest development not only enhances their operational capabilities but also underscores their dedication to sustainable and efficient business practices
