Improve Your Woodworking Output With BESSEY Clamps
High-quality clamps are a necessity that every woodworking workshop should have. For no other reason than consistently delivering high-quality wooden pieces. Today we want to share some reasons why BESSEY’s range of clamps allows you to deliver more output, faster by looking at the clamp materials used to manufacture BESSEY clamps.
Components Making Up A Clamp

Clamps are made of various materials, but the main ones are generally manufactured with metal, wood or plastic. The jaws are usually metal and the handles are wood, rubber, or plastic. Jaws are usually constructed out of metal and it’s their job to hold the material being clamped tightly together and prevent them from moving while being worked on. This is why the strongest material must be used when manufacturing this part of a clamp to ensure sturdy, strong and sustained clamping capabilities over the tool’s life.

Clamp handles also play a large role in tool comfort and longevity. Metal handles are extremely strong and require little to no maintenance, meaning they won’t rust and therefore last much longer. Unfortunately, they are not as comfortable and easy to grip as plastic or rubber handles, but the softer handles crack much easier under extreme pressure.

The part of any clamp that needs to be the strongest is the clamp rail, and that’s why our BESSEY clamps are made of sintered, hardened steel which is manufactured at the in-house steel plant in Germany. What does this sintering do for our BESSEY clamps? It increases tensile strength by 30%, while also giving a greater bending fatigue strength of 15% – doubling the impact energy our clamps are able to handle.
All BESSEY clamps are made from the highest quality, individually selected steel for a premium quality product that users can rely on. The steel used in our BESSEY clamps has been specifically optimised for clamps. This allows the profile to act against torsional force, while the smooth running spindle with ACME threads allows for more clamping with less effort.
Specialised Clamps:
Now that we understand how materials affect the quality and workmanship of clamps, it’s time to understand why specialised clamps allow you to get your workshop projects done faster, easier, and to a better-finished quality. The following section details various woodworking specialised clamps, how they work, and whether it’s the right clamp to make your woodworking projects more productive and save you time while working.
Band Clamp:

If you work with any sort of woodworking project you will know just how important assembly is, in terms of the project goal. The BESSEY Band Clamp can be used for assemblies of various materials, such as wood, plastic or aluminum. Because the band or webbing is tightened from both sides, pressure is equally distributed. It can be easily opened and closed as the strap is tightened and self-locking automatically occurs. The crank handle avoids the band from tangling and prevents it from getting damaged. The BESSEY Band Clamp has a clamping band of 7m and is 25mm thick in width, providing a perfect spread for any woodworker’s assembly.
The Angle Clamp:
t
This all-rounder clamp is used for clamping various thicknesses together, clamping directly in a mitre joint, and clamping at various angles. The angle clamp allows you to secure two pieces of wood together at a perfect 90-degree angle. To ensure your project remains unblemished, the jaws are plastic coated to protect the material from any damage. User comfort has also been taken into account with the easy-to-grip handle, rear jaw swivel functionality, and automatic adjustment to accommodate variously sized workpieces. The BESSEY range of Clamps ensures that you work smarter, not harder with high-quality clamps.
One-handed Edge Clamp:
t
If you need to apply any sort of edging material to a piece then the Edge clamp design makes your life easier, especially on corners or curves where edging is more difficult to hold down. The clamp comes with a twin spindle, the outer spindle acts on the clamping jaws and the inner spindle applies pressure to the front edge and to top it all off, this clamp can be applied with one hand. The jaws are non-slip and are soft enough to avoid any damage caused by the jaw’s clamping pressure, this ensures your workpiece is unblemished while you work.
Gear Clamp:

BESSEY is always Simply Better when it comes to thinking about our tool users’ needs. That’s why we have designed a first-of-its-kind Gear Clamp to help you clamp in cramped spaces. It doesn’t matter if you are working up against another object, or in small spaces that are difficult to access. The BESSEY Gear Clamp separates the spindle from the handle for greater clearance. Another feature is the quick adjust button for big movements on the bar and a quick turn handle that you can use to get strong comfortable clamping.
K-Body Clamp:
t
If you work in kitchen fitting, carpentry, or cabinet making, you are a woodworking fanatic and know just how important a large clamping opening is. The BESSEY K-Body Clamp is a parallel jawed clamp with large, deep jaws that are ideal for clamping large surfaces without damaging the materials. These clamps are the specialised clamp you need if you are looking for very accurate clamping support, and are ideal for woodworking applications that have a range opening of up to 2.5m. The sliding clamps can also be converted into a spreading function without the need for tools. As a bonus, the clamps can be extended using the KBX extender and the KR-AS adapter can be used in conjunction with the clamps to make the jaws tilt for clamping outside right angles.
