STABILA, in collaboration with Corobrik South Africa and local distribution partner Upat SA, officially launched the #my1ststabila campaign at the Corobrik Building School in Lawley, Gauteng — a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening vocational skills development within South Africa’s construction sector.

By combining STABILA’s global expertise in precision measuring tools with Corobrik’s long-standing investment in training and community upliftment, the initiative delivers meaningful impact where it matters most — in real training environments.

A Global Skills Development Initiative with Local Relevance

The #my1ststabila campaign is a global STABILA initiative that has played a key role in advancing skills development across numerous countries. Created to support young people entering vocational trades, the campaign provides access to professional-grade tools, technical knowledge, and practical application of principles for measuring, levelling, and alignment.

Worldwide, STABILA partners with training institutions, chambers of crafts and trades, and vocational schools to elevate training standards and help address the growing shortage of skilled labour in construction and technical trades.

By introducing learners to precision tools early in their careers, the campaign instills best practices that remain with them throughout their professional journey. Bringing this initiative to South Africa ensures local learners benefit from the same international standards and expertise that STABILA promotes globally.

Each participant was provided with the necessary materials and tools to construct a brickwork corner section built to four courses, simulating a real building corner. Assessment criteria focused on:

  • Structural accuracy and straightness
  • Brick alignment and joint consistency
  • Overall workmanship and finish
  • Correct and effective use of measuring and levelling tools

A judging panel consisting of Corobrik instructors and STABILA representatives evaluated each structure. Three standout performers were selected based on precision, technique, and overall execution, and were awarded prizes sponsored by STABILA in recognition of their skill and potential.

Long-Term Investment and Tool Donation

Beyond the training and competition, the collaboration included a tool donation from STABILA to the Corobrik Building School. This ensures future learners continue to benefit from access to high-quality measuring and levelling equipment throughout their training.
